Suraj Shiva Kumar is a Sr. Data Scientist who brings a background in data engineering, analytics, and artificial intelligence to the analysis of complex justice system data. He conducts exploratory analyses, evaluates data quality, and works collaboratively to prepare and integrate data across disparate systems for rigorous analysis. Drawing on his experience developing data pipelines and analytical solutions, Suraj helps create reliable, reproducible workflows and translates complex findings into clear visualizations and insights for technical and non-technical audiences.

Suraj holds a master’s degree in Business Analytics and Information Systems from the University of South Florida and a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Sir M. Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology. Before joining Luminosity, Suraj worked across software engineering, data engineering, analytics, and applied AI, developing scalable data systems, interactive dashboards, and machine learning solutions. His experience across research and technology environments strengthened his ability to apply data and AI methods to complex analytical challenges.
